Where We Are Now
The FLFPC held four regional membership meetings in 2016, the first in Ft. Myers (SW Region) in April, the second in Tallahassee (NW Region) in July, the third was held in Orlando (Central Region) in September and the forth was held in November in Davie (SE Region).
We are holding one more regional meetings on March 19, 2017 before our big membership meeting in June of 2017. The goal is to assess the assets & needs of each region and provide a basis on which to build a statewide platform. We are also working to make the organization as member-driven, diverse, and grassroots in character as possible. We currently have over 100 members from a wide range of sectors within the food system across the state.
The 5th membership meeting on March 19 (1-5 PM) at Berry Good Farm in Jacksonville, FL. The meeting will build upon the first four meetings in assessing the assets & needs of the state of Florida, which will shape the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
Where We Are Going
The Florida Food Policy Council will make possible the growth of functional (i.e. resilient, self-sufficient, whole, just and ecologically sustainable) local, community foodsheds that bring communities through the state of Florida closer to true food security.
