Where We Are Now
The FLFPC has held two regional membership meetings in 2016 so far, the first in Ft. Myers (SW Region) in April and the second in Tallahassee (NW Region) in July. There are plans to hold three more regional meetings between now and June of 2017. The goal is to assess the assets & needs of each region and provide a basis on which to build a statewide platform. We are also working to make the organization as member-driven, diverse, and grassroots in character as possible. We currently have over 100 members from a wide range of sectors within the food system across the state.
The FLFPC is currently preparing for the 3rd membership meeting to be held in Orlando, FL on September 11, 2016 from 12:00 PM-5 PM at East End Market. The meeting will build upon the inaugural meeting in assessing the assets & needs of the state of Florida, which will shape the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
Where We Are Going
The Florida Food Policy Council will make possible the growth of functional (i.e. resilient, self-sufficient, whole, just and ecologically sustainable) local, community foodsheds that bring communities through the state of Florida closer to true food security.
